About Hattori 傘 SAN Limited

Grand Master Hattori became 80 years old. In Japan, a person’s 80th birthday is commemorated with a special celebration called 傘寿 / Sanju. To celebrate this milestone and his proud achievements as a Master craftsman, Hattori created the 傘 SAN Limited — a series of strictly limited-production knives, each one a testament to a lifetime of dedication to the craft.

This is the 166th version of Hattori "SAN" Limited edition" celebrating his 80th year old anniversary. He has selected a compact, little-sized version of the KD-3717 Cowry X Damascus Tanto model. Master Hattori carefully selected the natural wood material, best part of Cocobolo wood which is carefully done with Hattori traditional stabilizing process and Stag for the spacer.

A gentle, flowing curve leads from the warm Cocobolo handle to the beautiful Cowry-X Damascus Tanto tip of this one-of-a-kind knife. Though compact, it is thoughtfully shaped for a secure, comfortable grip, a Little Masterpiece born from the gifts of nature and Master Hattori's skill.

Only one knife has been made in this edition, making it a truly one-of-a-kind piece. The hilt is engraved with the words “Only One Made”. The blade comes with the 傘 SAN etching, and the knife comes in a presentation box.
